The discovery of you

The discovery of you is an illusion

The finding
where you rest before the sunrise
as darkness
a shadow yet to be
heated

mist evaporates from you
from my eyes
to reveal
your exquisite rise and fall
inhale, exhale

and there, you see
is where blindness strikes me
for as you smile
you remove the sun
which shatters the magic

I walk away
to my own falling, failing
as a glance behind
sees flowers growing at your feet
sunrise kissing your hair

a heartbeat
an apprehensive, step
a breathing
of pain
a mirage

never to be kissed

Drowning sorrow

What is it but a drowning sorrow
as the sky weeps its release

What is it but a chilling fear
as winds scour the earth

What is it but silent heartbeats
as snowflakes settle one by one, by one

What is it but a waiting
an apprehension of thought
a waiting of age
soon to be lit

It is this
this very moment
when upon looking up
a butterfly in winter
shivers in its beautiful strength

shivers, and is gone

That, feeling

right in the pit
curling
a feather with boots and wings

that, feeling
of desire
of a need to compress

tremulous it starts
spreading
wings of springs and glorious things

that, feeling
of apprehension
of a call to unwind

such warmth
rising
calling and falling

that, feeling
of inhibition
of a flavour to inhale

and so release
into the wild
of the evening sky
