With each step
we write our lives
with quills dipped in rainwater
for as soon as it is written
it fades under the glare of happiness
or is washed away by storms of solitude
The mere act of dipping
is enough to send ripples along to the roots of Gaia’s smile
where she drinks in the questions of us mortal masterpieces
for as soon as it is written
our souls, our spirits, our hearts and our minds become
lost in the frustrations of being unable to comprehend
the reasons why we are given such beauty
only for it to be washed away
The act of being kind to the rains as they fall
brings its own rewards
for when we write our lives
with quills of love
we shall be given
the truth of how to live in the now moments
of how to flow over storm-crusted stepping stones of haste
and of how to write with rainwater
and know there are no answers except for those we create
When we write with rainwater
the sun shines
and the storms rage
as we breathe
know and feel
the beauty of existence
Another poem from before that seems to resonate with the way things are going nowadays.
From 2017 published in After the Rain.
A poem I published in 2017 seems rather apt at this moment.
After all that rain
all this …
I wake to see art.
with the clocks back an hour
I’m in bed with a coffee.
That bright ball of wool
is being tugged along
by cosmic cats
leaving its fluffy warmth
to permeate the sodden
Mist curls to chase
only to lose substance and fade.
to seize the day
and obliterate the night.
Look what arrived today!
Nice new copies of my books.
The third book of my little thoughts, A New Sunrise along with Being Human and Silence Happens and my latest poetry collection, Broken Roses with After the Rain.
All looks lovely, I’m rather happy.
Keep your eyes peeled for a competition coming soon 🙂
Hello all, I’m currently working on another collection of poems which will have a darker feel than After the Rain. I do have a title and theme but for now I’ll keep those to myself. I want to get as much done before I go back to work so I might be a bit quiet here, or I should say a bit quieter as I have been neglecting WordPress recently and I do apologise if I haven’t been getting around to reading your posts.
In the meantime if you fancy reading a bit more of my poetry then After the Rain is now available in a New Edition with a few poetic alterations inside plus a 5 star review on the back cover from author DM Denton, author of ‘Without the Veil Between, Anne Brontë’, who says I sometimes remind her of the Victorian poetess Christina Rossetti. The book contains over 100 poems and is available either from my Self-Publishing site here http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Martin_Shone or from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and other online stores.
Thank you all very much for your support.
After a year of my poetry book being published, I found a handful of poems which needed a little editing. With this now completed and with a change of the copyright page and an update of the bio, After the Rain is now published as a New Edition and is available to buy from my Author Page here http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Martin_Shone for £8.00 and for this you get over 100 poems and a piece of prose.
Thank you all
